AMD‘s official announcement of the Ryzen 4000 CPUs at CES 2020 was met with great applause as they seemed to show promising improvements over Intel‘s current mobile offerings and According to Hallock, the CUs in Renoir have been made more efficient with boosted clocks thanks to the transition to 7nm Improvements on the CPU side combined with boosted clocks on the APU’s (+17%) driver improvements and improvements in how the GPU handles a given workload all help in making each CU 59% faster.
The new chips are designed to go head to head against Intel’s latest chips and As AMD CEO Lisa Su officially announced on stage, the newly introduced top of the line U series chip, Ryzen 7 4800U, offers an 8 core, 16 thread design.
And 1.8 GHz clock speeds that can boost up to 4.2 GHz and More importantly though the Ryzen 7 4800U benchmarks 4% better in single-thread performance and 90% better in multithread cases and 28% better for graphics compared to Intel’s closet competitor the comparably specced Core i7-1065g7 from the company’s latest 10nm Ice Lake lineup.

ASUS officially announced that their upcoming TUF A15 and A17 Gaming laptops will make use of these processors and they will also feature graphics from Nvidia and high refresh rate displays and Lenovo joined in announcing that the new Yoga Slim 7 will feature a Ryzen 4000 series processor, along with a 14 inch Full HD display and AMD says that the first AMD Ryzen 4000 series laptops will arrive from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo and other companies starting in Q1 2020.
