Hollywood is one of several Netflix Original series set to be produced by Murphy, including a spin-off series devoted to one Flew Over the Cuckoo’ Nest baddie. On April 20, Netflix released the first trailer for the Ryan Murphy-created limited show, starring Darren Criss, Patti LuPone, Queen Latifah, Dylan McDermott, Holland Taylor, Laura Harrier, Jim Parsons, David Corenswet and more
The story follows as alternate 1940s Hollywood. The limited show, which Murphy who has brought you American Horror Story, Glee, The Politician, etc. This show is co-created with Ian Brennan, who will mix real Hollywood figures from the 1940s and fictional characters to reimagine what Hollywood could have been.
The limited show travels back to post World War 2 Hollywood to follow a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers as they try to make it in Tinseltown no matter the coast. Each character offers a unique glimpse behind the gilded curtain of Hollywood’s Golden Age.
The first look images introduce the core group of aspiring actors and filmmakers Raymond as Criss, Archie as Pope, Jack as Corenswet and Rock Hudson picking in one shot above with claire weaving and Camille as Harrier in another as well as the studio big wigs, agents and bosses who have the power to decide their fate.
All 7 episodes of Hollywood will hit Netflix on May 1. The release comes roughly a year after the show went into production. Murphy teased the project in February 2019 on Instagram writing.
