Arthdal Chronicles is a South Korean fantasy web series available on Netflix. It was released weekly from 1 June 2019 to November 2019. Season 1 was a massive hit. It received worldwide praise and was critically acclaimed. It currently holds a rating of 8.1/10 at IMDB which I guess speaks for the quality of this web series.
IS THERE A POSSIBILITY OF SEASON 2 OF ARTHDAL CHRONICLES?
On February 13 KST, Ilgan Sports reported that tvN’s “Arthdal Chronicles” is gearing up production for a new season. According to the report, “Arthdal Chronicles” will begin production on its second season in either September or October at the latest. Song Joong Ki, Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ji Won, and Kim Ok Bin are expected to reprise their roles, as well as all the other cast members who were not killed off in the first season. The production staff is reportedly working on coming up with a schedule that will accommodate the main actors.
WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
“Arthdal Chronicles” is an epic fantasy drama about heroes who make their own legends in the mythical land of Arth. The first season aired in three parts (six episodes per part) for a total of 18 episodes last year. It reportedly cost over 50 billion won (about $42.4 million) to produce.
Because the show was always intended to run for multiple seasons, the first season had an ambiguous ending. However, lackluster viewership ratings and mixed audience reactions during the first season threw its future into doubt. The show drew unfavorable comparisons with “Game of Thrones,” and there were reports that the overseas filming in Brunei had created unfair working conditions for the production staff. However, there were also some indications that Part 3 had more positive feedback among audience members.
