Yes, you heard right. The Amazon Original The Tick is canceled for season 3. The Tick will not return for a third season. The Amazon series’ creator Ben Edlund just revealed the news on Twitter.
“I’m sorry to say Amazon has chosen not to proceed with [‘The Tick’],” Edlund wrote. “I’m not sorry to say I love this show, its cast, its story, and its message. Destiny demands that my compatriots and I now seek a new home for this series.”
An Amazon Prime Video superhero comedy based on Ben Edlund’s long-running comic, The Tick stars Peter Serafinowicz, Griffin Newman, Valorie Curry, Brendan Hines, Yara Martinez, Scott Speiser, and Jackie Earle Haley. The story unfolds in place in a world where superheroes have been real for many many years and follow a nervous accountant, Arthur Everest (Newman), and a strange (sometimes clueless) blue superhero named The Tick (Serafinowicz). Together, they begin an adventure that’s filled with crazy supervillains, dangerous vigilantes, and freakish superheroes.
ABOUT THE TICK
The Tick is an American web television series created for Amazon Video by Ben Edlund, based on his comic book character of the same name. Its pilot premiered on August 18, 2016. A “half-season”, through to the sixth episode, was released on August 25, 2017, and another six episodes were released on February 23, 2018. On January 17, 2018, Amazon ordered a second season of ten episodes, which premiered on April 5, 2019.
The Tick is a nigh-invulnerable superhero in a blue tick suit who arrives in the city to help combat crime and uncover the mysterious figure behind the city’s underworld. He befriends a nervous and mild-mannered young man named Arthur who becomes his sidekick. They come to realize that an apparently long-dead supervillain called “The Terror” may still be pulling the strings in the city’s underworld.
