Den of Thieves 2 which will also be directed again by Gudegast, will find Big Neck on the hunt in the streets of Europe closing in on Donnie who is embroiled in the dangerous world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia. There is plenty of audience growth which was made evident by the release of the first movie and the exit polling which showed equal interest from all-male audience quads. Den of Thieves wasn’t an enormous critical success but it did resonate with moviegoers. Set in the bank robbery capital of the world, Los Angeles.
There have been rumors that production commenced in 2019. Given that the original movie was in development for a full 14 years It’s possible that Gudegast and the company are taking their time, especially since so much has changed due to COVID-19. Then it’s possible that it could release sometime in summer 2021.
Den of Thieves 2 is in the works, with the main cast and crew set to return. That includes director Christian Gudegast along with 50 Cent and more than likely O’Shea Jackson Jr. Gudegast made his feature directorial debut with Den of Thieves which has grossed more than $57 million worldwide since its Jan 19 opening.
The second installment will place Butler’s character, Big Nick, on the hunt in the streets of Europe and closing in on Donnie, who is embroiled in the dangerous world of diamond theft, plotting a heist of the world’s biggest diamond exchange. Den of Thieves Part 1 of this movie was set in Los Angeles which is considered as the center of the bank robbery. We have seen in part one that at last Dannie Wilson is the real mastermind behind the robbery.
