Jenna Mourey, the hugely popular YouTube star known as Jenna Marbles is quitting her channel after a decade on the video streaming platform. In an 11-minute video clip titled “A Message, Mourey apologized for her past actions and shared that she would be stepping away from her channel because we’re at a time where we are purging ourselves of anything and everything toxic. Content that Mourey has put on private a clip in which she shamed women who “ran around and slept around” and a music video containing lyrics that appeared to mock Asian people.
She said now people see those clips and are offended by the actions of the person she used to be. One was a video from 2011 in which she impersonated Nicki Minaj. Marbles described the video as “incredibly crazy and embarrassing” and said that It has been private for quite some time.
The next incident she addressed was the video “Bounce that D-K from 2011 and She played a brief clip of the music video where she raps.
The 33 Year old prefaced her next video by sharing that she made it during “One of the hardest years” of her life. The content creator admitted that “no one” was demanding an apology for that video, but she joked that she felt like she might as well put it on my tab.
On Social media, thousands are expressing their mixed reactions to Jenna’s announcement and One tweet, which has over 5,000 likes, read. But she didn’t just issue an apology her brief video also addressed specific videos and explains why the videos demand on the apology. In doing so, she did what many others fail to do and own her mistakes.
