If there’s one good thing to come out of the current situation, it’s that Jack Black is now a TikTok star. The 50-year-old comedian made his debut on the social media platforms with a #StayAtHome dance and it’s just what a lot of people needed amid the coronavirus crisis.
In the video, Black dances around shirtless in spandex shorts with a cowboy hat and boots. He twirls. He kicks. He pretends he’s a bird. Even when his hat falls off, the actor isn’t fazed. He concludes by sticking his tongue out at the camera.
‘Quarantine Dance #reallifeathome #distancedance #happyathome #boredathome’ the father of two captioned the sequence, also be sure to give credit to his editor Taylor Stephens.
Jack also gave himself props for the soundtrack of the clip, which was a percussion-filled, original poppy track by the actor and musician himself.
Evidently, the Jumanji star isn’t yet a total pro on the TikTok platform, a video sharing social networking app that was launched in 2017 and only started gaining major traction recently.
Several other stars praised the 50-year-old actor’s unique gyrations, with “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon calling the high energy dance “just perfection.”
Twitter erupted when the video was shared by former NBA Player Rex Chapman. Over 3.7 million people (and counting) have viewed the 30-second clip and “Jack Black” has been trending on Twitter Tuesday.
Over 1.9 million people have watched the video on Instagram with Black’s famous pals leaving him encouraging comments.
State officials across the country have issued stay-at-home orders in recent weeks in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Many celebrities have taken to social media to encourage self-quarantine and social distancing measures. Will Ferrell, Snoop Dogg, Robert De Niro, and Alec Baldwin all participated in recent public service announcements urging Americans to stay home to fight the coronavirus.
