2023 Update on Bolanle Raheem Killer Drambi Vandi Trial
When Assistant Superintendent of Police, Drambi Vandi, catastrophically shot and killed Bolanle Raheem, it shook the public. The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) arranged funeral services.
The killing led to an ongoing case of Drambi and lately, the case took a fresh turn. After defense counsel, Mr. Adetokunbo Odutola presented his last written address on behalf of his client, Justice Ibironke Harrison retaliated by booking the date for overruling the case.
It was in retaliation to a no-case submission application filed before the court on February 20, 2023.
Odutla argued that the ballistic reports state that the gun did not match the fired bullet and he seemed firm in his argument.
While the prosecution alleges that Bolanle was shot in the chest, the defense firmly argues that the pathologist’s testimony contradicted the prosecution’s claim, as the pathologist stated that the bullet entered from the left through the armpit.
The state government charged the defendant with one count of murder under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The case was recessed until April 3 for a ruling by Justice Harrison following arguments from both sides.
