Earlier today, there were cops called to Jorge Masvidal’s home.
His father, Jorge Sr. , is now in custody for an alleged shooting that took place at that home.

Masvidal spent his early years under the tutelage of the late Kimbo Slice, and has since gone on to fight with the sport’s biggest stars under several promotions.
Despite having signed to the UFC for over a decade now, the 38-year-old is still fighting at the top level with no signs of slowing down.
‘Gamebred’ has always dedicated much of his success to his family since day one. In particular, the Miami native has had a strong relationship with his father, Jorge Masvidal Sr.

Jorge Masvidal has mixed ethnicity, he is the son of a Cuban father, and a Peruvian mother. The UFC Welterweight star often refers to his father as Papa Dukes, and sometimes as Jorge ‘Kalifa’ Masvidal.
Masvidal Sr. was born and brought up in Cuba before eventually migrating to America at the young age of 20. ‘Kalifa’ left Cuba to escape the tense political situation in a self-made raft using tires. He eventually reached the Virgin Islands, before authorities extradited him to Miami, Florida.
According to Masvidal Sr. he and his best friend and his uncle planned the escape from Cuba. The three of them created a raft to escape. However, the water in one of their containers got contaminated, and everyone on board got dehydrated. However, the three of them managed to reach the Virgin Islands through sheer determination.
The event happened around 1971 and Jorge has shared the story on numerous occasions even during the ‘Fighters Against Socialism’ rally in Florida, which former president Donald Trump Jr. also attended.
Jorge previously stated about visiting Cuba in the past, but Masvidal Sr. has always turned him down stating:
You’re gonna be helping out the communist government if you go over there. And I would appreciate it if you wouldn’t because that’s what I ran from.”

Masvidal Sr. started out his new working as a construction worker, his shady past eventually caught up. Authorities arrested him and out him in jail on charges of drug trafficking and manslaughter. Masvidal Sr. is currently out under supervised rules. Jorge was only 4 years old when his father was imprisoned,

Jorge Masvidal’s mother, often called Mama Dukes has always played an important role in her son’s success. When her husband initially got arrested and jailed, she did not reveal it to protect Jorge. She covered up the incident by lying to Masvidal that his father was serving in the army. As such, Jorge grew up hating his father because of the poverty in their house.
However, his mother eventually revealed the truth by the time he turned 13, following which Jorge visited him once a week until he turned 21. His mother did her best tried to me ends meet and support Jorge despite all of their problems.
The mother of two deserves as much credit for Masvidal’s success as her husband. Currently, there is no info on the relationship status of Masvidal Sr. and his wife. However, Masvidal has previously stated how both his parents are very close to him.
