Police officials are still investigating whether the attacker was motivated by the right-wing extremist ideology. One of the ones killed is Aishwarya Thatikonda.
Who was Aishwarya Thatikonda?
Aishwarya Thatikonda, an Indian engineer who hails from the Dallas suburb of McKinney was among those who are killed as per a family representative.
Thatikonda who was 27 years old, was roaming in the Allen mall with a friend when the shooting took place and her friend was wounded in the mass shooting. Her family is presently planning to repatriate her remains to India with the help of the Telegu Association of North America.
Ms. Thatikonda’s LinkedIn profile shows that she finished her graduation with an undergraduate degree in civil engineering in India in early 2018, before receiving a degree in construction management from Eastern Michigan University in the US in 2020.
For the past two years, she was serving for a Dallas-based contracting firm on a US work visa.
Two parents and one kid were also killed in the shooting. The parent’s names were Cho Kyu Song who was 37 years old and Kang Shin Young, who was 35 years. Officials added that they are American citizens who are of Korean descent.
Their son is James Cho. Cho is 3 years old and he is the youngest victim of the mass shooting.
A verified GoFundMe revealed that they were at the mall exchanging clothing that their 6-year-old son received as a birthday gift only 4 days before. The duo’s 4 years boy got injured and has been released from the hospital intensive care unit. He is the only surviving member of the family.
