This was in response to an accident involving their car, which hit a woman while en route to cover the inauguration of Mohalla Clini by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal. According to the police, the victim was also en route to the same event, and the reporters were charged with reckless driving and hurling caste-based slurs at the complainant.
Despite their claims, Bhavana Kishore and her team maintained their innocence. However, the incident sparked controversy as many prominent personalities raised their voices against their detention. Many of them also alleged that Punjabi police arrested her for ting revenge against her and the Time Now group because of the ongoing Operation Sheehmahal. Ting to Twitter, Navika Kumar, Times Network Group Editor, wrote,

According to her, journalist Bhavana Kishore had been held for the previous seven hours. Her tweet claims that Punjab police held her due to claims of an accident, although she wasn’t even the driver.
