Aric Hutchinson dream wedding night turned into a nightmare when he lost his new wife, Samantha Hutchinson, in a terrible accident that also hurt him badly
On Friday, April 28, the couple and two friends were in a golf cart leaving their wedding reception when they were hit by a driver who was allegedly drunk.

The accident happened at Folly Beach, South Carolina. Samantha, who was 34, died right away, and Aric, who was 36, was hurt so badly that he could die. He had a brain damage and several broken bones.

When she hit the couple, the driver, Jamie Komoroski, was going 65 mph in a 25 mph zone, so their cart rolled over several times. Samantha Hutchinson’s sister, Mandi Jenkins, told the story of the last few hours of the wedding day. She said, “I’ve never seen the light in [Samantha’s] eyes shine as brightly as it did that day, from the time that day began, when she was getting ready for her wedding at the house. It was the best day she had ever had.
Annette, Aric’s mother, has set up a fundraiser to help pay for his funeral and hospital costs. She wrote on the GoFundMe page, “Sam died from her injuries. Aric is in serious condition and has had one of two reconstruction surgeries, numerous broken bones, and a brain injury. He will have a long recovery. Ben and Brogan were also injured, Ben seriously,” referring to their two friends who were in the golf cart.

Before they decided to get married, they had been seeing each other for three years. Aric grew up in the Ogden area and went to high school in South Ogden. After that, he went to college and played football for Snow Collegiate and Utah Tech.

He is an Account Manager at Tucker Kirby, a building company that specialises in concrete, masonry, waterproofing, and geotextiles for homes, businesses, and factories. Aric has worked at Hohmann & Barnard, Inc. as a Regional Technical Sales Manager, a Product Development Specialist, and a Sales Representative.
The tragedy has left Samantha’s family and friends heartbroken. Samantha Hutchinson’s mother Lisa Mille said, “I don’t know what the distraction was, but she literally ran into my daughter going 65 miles an hour. Sammie and Aric were on the back of the golf cart, so she basically just whammed my child.”
Alleged driver charged with reckless murder and felony
Concerns have also been made about drunk driving and the need for stricter laws and stricter enforcement to keep these kinds of tragedies from happening. The driver, who is thought to be Jamie Komoroski, is being charged with reckless murder and felony DUI. At the time of the crash, her blood alcohol level was twice as high as what is allowed by law.
The last shots of the couple were very sad because they were smiling as their guests waved sparklers at them as they left. Now, the couple’s friends and family have to deal with the loss of Samantha and help Aric get better.
