The ever-so-hilarious Whitney Cummings never fails to make anyone laugh. She is the queen of stand-up comedy. She has created and written the iconic “2 Broke Girls” sitcom (which we love), and well, nothing more to add but that she is a genius woman that every girl can look up to.
She is a mega-celebrity with a tremendous fan following. But with an immense fan following comes the enormous responsibility to share every big news with fans. Luckily, Cummings’ fans are never kept in the dark, and she loves to share every big news with them. Even who she is dating or is engaged to.
But if you’ve been out of touch with the showbiz lifestyle, here’s a quick recap of Whitney Cummings’ Dating History.
Name | Time |
Miles Skinner (Engaged) | 2017-2020 |
Alex Barnes | 2020-Present |
Miles Skinner
Sometimes, love is just around the corner or just a swipe away. Believe it or not but Cummings met her ex-fiance, Miles Skinner, in the good old Tinder, back in 2017. Cummings may be one of the best ones in her genre, but so is Skinner in his field. He works in advertising. He worked as the Executive Creative Director / Special Projects of VICE Media from March 2017 to November 2020. It doesn’t end here. He has also worked as a freelance brand strategist for houses like Nike, Ralph Lauren, the New York Rangers, and the New York Knicks.

After all, talented people are meant to end up together. The pair also share their love for animals. Their whirlwind romance took the ultimate turn when they got engaged in 2018. She broke the news to her beloved fans with a video posted on her Instagram handle, with the caption saying, “Today I got engaged. I handled it great! This goes to show that if you work on yourself, trust your gut, and keep your ego in check, you too can find love on a dating app.” As sweet as it can be, Skinner, in fact, proposed to her on the day of Cummings’ 36th birthday, that too in front of her cherished horse, King. Now, that is who you call a prince charming.
But not all bonds are made in heaven. The couple broke off their engagement and called it quits in early 2020. The couple parted ways as Whitney did not feel ready for it. “Nothing nasty, no drama. It just wasn’t — I feel like nobody would believe me — I was not ready to plan a wedding. The whole thing really overwhelmed me,” she explained on her podcast ‘Good For You’.
They met, and they talked, and it was epic, but unfortunately, life isn’t a fairytale to give Whitney Cummings and Miles Skinner the happy ending.
Alex Barnes
Shortly after her split from Skinner, our girl, Whitney Cummings, met Alex Barnes, a veterinarian, when her foster dog attacked one of her dogs. Being the concerned dog mom, she rushed to take her dog to the vet, only to meet her future beau, Dr. Alex Barnes. According to Cummings, she was stopped by the staff from entering the clinic because she looked like a total mess or, as she would describe it, “Courtney Love having a breakdown.”

“I’m crying, I’m screaming, I’m banning on the door. And they’re not letting me in,” said the 40-year-old comedian. But here comes Dr. Alex Barnes to the rescue. He recognized her in a heartbeat and helped her out. And as for the rest, they’re still going strong.
Now, who would think that they would get to meet the love of their life at their workplace?
They share an age gap of six years, but such baseless controversies did not stop the beautiful couple from getting together. Cummings and Barnes both share their love of animals. Barnes ended up being a veterinarian because of his interest in veterinary medicine at a young age, courtesy of his father, a small animal veterinarian.
Returning to the sweet romance of Barnes and Cummings, the latter admitted to her close friend, Dan Levy, that veterinarians weren’t exactly her type. But meeting Barnes changed her mind. “And he is younger than me, he is like 31 years old, and he is quite attractive,” she said in an interview on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan in August 2021. As an affectionate gesture for her beau, Cummings had a rock climbing wall built in her backyard, as Barnes loved rock climbing and considered it a healthy hobby.
We wish them a love of a lifetime and hope they have their happily ever after.
Whitney Cummings may have had her share of rocks in her dating life, but that hasn’t stopped her search for her The One. Her fairytale romance with Miles Skinner may have had an abrupt ending, but she has finally found the love of her life, Alex Barnes, and let us hope that they bring a heap full of happiness to each other.
