After 30 years, Georgia Grille is closing its door, owner Karen Hillard announced on the restaurant Facebook page. “It’s time to say goodbye,” she wrote Monday, adding she was grateful for the customers, employees, and vendors of the Buckhead restaurant. “Grateful for everyone that joined with us to create a special place for the community to come together and celebrate life.
Hillard announced the closure as several restaurants across metro Atlanta reopened their dinning ros after the coronavirus pandemic forced them to offer only take – out meals. It is not clear if the loss of business during the pandemic led the eatery to close. Inspired by the famous southwestern painter, Georgia O’ Keefe, the restaurant combines southwestern food with southern hospitality.
Founded in 1990, the eatery is known for Hillard’s lobster enchiladas and it’s margaritas. The restaurant vintage decor is just as memorable as the food and is being sold during a memorabilia sale, Hillard said. A painting Georgia and husband Alfred by artist Steve Penley is selling for $ 15000 and the restaurant’s antique coca- cola cooler is going to for dollar 3500.
