In Jarta, Indonesia, athletes from all around the world participate in the speed discipline for the third IFSC World Cup of the 2023 season of sport climbing.

Sport climbing action is back with another speed event following the breing of the 5-second barrier at the most recent IFSC World Cup in Seoul. Could the current male world record holder, Veddriq Leonardo, accelerate even more quickly at home?

The World Cup climbing tour’s Asian leg concludes with a single speed competition in Indonesia. The following stop will be Salt Le City in the US.

The best athletes will compete for ranking points that count towards invitations to the Olympic Qualifier Series, which is the final opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

At the IFSC World Cup in Seoul, Veddriq Leonardo broke the five-second barrier three times en route to winning the inaugural championship of the season.

The Indonesian aspires to continue breing history in front of his local audience by climbing the wall in less than 4.90 seconds.

Leonardo will serve as the squad captain for an Indonesian team of twelve athletes along with his friend and training partner Kiromal Katibin.

Women’s competitor Aleksandra Miroslaw will come in Indonesia after shattering her own world record and ting first place in the event in Seoul in 6.25 seconds.

Two additional Polish climbers, Natalia and Aleksandra Kalucka, will be potential title rivals. They placed second and third, respectively, at the World Cup that was held in Indonesia the previous year.

At the “Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex” in Jarta, Indonesia’s capital, the event will te place.

On Saturday, May 6, the qualifying rounds for men and women begin the competition. On Sunday, May 7, the finals te place.

The only World Cup of the 2023 season devoted to their sport will be a must-attend event for the best speed climbers in the world.
