The 2023 edition of the senior championships will be ming a return to the country where the sport originated.
Muaythai World Championships 2023 format and schedule
This year, the Muaythai World Championships 2023 begins with the preliminary rounds on Friday 5 May. Following the preliminary rounds, the quarter-finals will then begin from 9-10 May and then the semi-finals on 11 May. The final round will then te place a day later on 12 May.
Muaythai World Championships 2023 competition preview
The competition features over 100 countries with each combat finalists set to earn direct qualification to the World Combat Games. The World Combat Games are set to te place in Saudi Arabia in later this year in October. The winners of the Wai Kru and Mai Muay competitions will also advance to those Games.
This year, the IFMA Refugee Team (Equipe Muaythai de Refugies – EMR) are also set to te part in the championships.
Prior to the start of the competition, IFMA Director General Charissa Tynan stated:

Muaythai World Championships 2023 dates and venue
The Muaythai World Championships 2023 is all set to te place starting with the opening ceremony on Thursday 4 May. the competition will go on until the finals on 12 May. This year’s World Championships is ting place in the famous five-star convention centre – Central World in Bangkok, Thailand.
