Spearing is known best for training Commanche Run, which won the St. Leger Stakes and the Irish Derby in 1984, and Royal Gait, which also won the Ascot Gold Cup in 1992. He has also trained horses like Nomadic Way, High Top Lady, and Jail Door, which are all well-known.

Spearing has trained more than 700 winners throughout his career. Because of this, he is known as among the most respected people in the racing industry.

Thornton said Spearing was a “true gentleman” and a “wonderful horseman” in his tribute. He also talked about how close he was to Spearing and how much the trainer helped him in his professional life.

Thornton rode many times for Spearing. In 1992, he was on Royal Gait when it won the Ascot Gold Cup.

Spearing was known for how much he cared for and paid attention to his horses. During his career, he trained several successful racehorses in the UK. Unfortunately, his death was a loss for the racing business.
