Fumio Kishida is a Japanese politician serving as prime minister of Japan and president of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) since 2021.
On July 29, 1957, Kishida was born in Shibuya, Tokyo, into a political family. His father, Fumitake Kishida, served as the director of the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency and a government official in the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
The Kishida family visited Hiroshima every summer because they were natives of that city. Fumio grew up hearing tales from those who had survived the atomic attack, which had claimed many members of the Kishida family.
