About five cars and repair shops had burned down in Asokwa, a neighbourhood in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana.

According to a witness, the fire started on May 31, 2023, at about nine o’clock. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) officers appeared on the site swiftly, according to information obtained by 3News, but little to nothing could be saved from the fire.

“Sometimes I light mosquito coils in the shop but yesterday I didn’t light any coil so I can’t tell what caused the fire. I sell oil, fluids, spanners and other car parts and everything will amount to about one million Ghana cedis but I couldn’t salvage anything from my shop”.

Benjamin Baah, a victim of the incident decried saying “I’m working on two cars belonging to my clients and they have all been burnt. I couldn’t pick even a pin from my own shop.

The owners of the cars and others whose works are with me came to the scene but they have not said anything yet. I’m traumatized and I want the government to come to my aid”.However, the cause of the fire is not readily known but officers of the GNFS have commenced investigations.
