The Liga MX Clausura Playoffs will begin with the Wild Card this weekend featuring 12 different teams.

Following which, Monterrey, Chivas, Toluca, and America will then face against the four teams that me it to the quarterfinals.

Liga MX Clausura 2023 Playoffs format

The upcoming playoffs will feature twelve of the best teams from the regular season standings. While the top four automatically qualified for the quarterfinals, the last eight teams will play against each other for a spot in the quarterfinals. The Wild Card round will feature a one-game format, following which it will be a two-match format.

The four teams that have already qualified for the quarterfinals are Monterrey, America, Chivas and Toluca. Meanwhile, the other teams that have qualified for the Wild Card round are Pachuca, leon, Tigres, Cruz Azul, Atlas, Puebla, Atletico San Luis, and Santos.

  • The team that scores more goals on aggregate will win the series and advance to the next round
  • There is no away goals rule, as such, two teams that are tied on aggregate, the higher seed advances
  • In the final match, if two teams that are tied on aggregate, the second leg will feature an extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shoot-out.
