Praveen Nath was found dead in his house in Thrissur on Thursday, reportedly after consuming poison. Over the past few days, there had been rumours on social media that he had separated from his partner, Rishana Aishu, a trans woman who is a model and winner of the Miss Malabar beauty contest. Praveen had married Rishana on February 14, 2022, after being in a relationship with her for over two years.

Recently, following a fight with Rishana, Praveen Nath had posted on social media suggesting that he was ending the relationship. Even though he deleted the post immediately and clarified that it was posted in the heat of the moment and that they were still together, the rumours about their breup spread on social media.
Praveen was reportedly depressed by the social media bullying and negative comments about his relationship. On Friday, following the death of Praveen, his partner, Rishana, also reportedly attempted suicide.
Rishana is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital and is said to be out of danger. Praveen was under treatment at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital.
He came from a poor family and his father passed away when he was a child. He didn’t have any child with Rishana.
The family of Praveen Nath, Kerala’s first transgender bodybuilder who was found dead in his rented house at Poonkunnam in Thrissur on Thursday, have accused his wife Rishana Aysha, a transwoman, of assaulting and torturing him.
Praveen, 26, who was named Mr Kerala in the transgender category in 2021, had married Rishana on February 14 this year and his family was supportive of the marriage.

Praveen Nath made history in 2021 after he won a gold medal and was crowned Mr. Kerala in the transgender category in the state-level bodybuilding championship. He was also a finalist at the international bodybuilding championship held in Mumbai in 2022.
Kerala has become a graveyard for the LGBTQIA+ community. Several queer members have lost their lives due to homophobia, including Praveen Nath, a young trans man and Mister Kerala, who committed suicide today after experiencing cyber bullying.

Praveen’s achievements were all the more remarkable given the hurdles he had to overcome. Like many in the transgender community, Praveen Nath faced mockery and bullying due to his sexuality. However, he had always credited his mother, who stood by him through everything, including when he was undergoing sex reassignment surgery.
Praveen Nath, who was active on social media, also worked with a Thrissur-based LGBTQIA+ organisation, Sahayathrika, to help others in the community. He had become a role model for many young people in the LGBTQIA+ community, who saw him as a symbol of hope and inspiration.
