No more New Girl! Despite having a brand-new series and a demanding schedule, Hannah Simone always finds time to get up with her old cast members.
The New Girl podcast “Welcome to Our Show!” was recorded every day, according to the ABC star, who exclusively shared her daily schedule with Us Weekly ahead of the February 8 launch of her new comedy, Not Dead Yet.
When asked about her early-evening plans, the 42-year-old native of Canada said, “Zooey Deschanel, Lamorne Morris, and I are rewatching New Girl and spilling the tea on our podcast.” Jake Johnson also appeared that day, making it a pleasant mini-reunion.
But when it’s time to relax on the sofa, Simone remembers a current co-star, Lauren Ash. Ash sent her a pair of custom-made Not Dead Yet pajamas.
The Oldboy actress told Us that Lauren Ash, 40, bought her the personalized nightwear “as a wrapped gift” after they finished shooting the first season of the ABC sitcom. “Lauren Ash knows I adore pajamas,” she said.
Simone plays Sam, Nell’s (Gina Rodriguez) best friend on the program. Sam develops a strong relationship with their rival and employer, Lexi (Ash).
While Simone’s day is full of friends and enjoyment—she starts her mornings by going to yoga. In yoga, she quipped to Us that she and her instructor “usually end up laughing for most of it,” an ab workout in and of itself—her Not Dead Yet character is forced to deal with trying times in her friendship with Nell.
As Simone said to TV Insider on Wednesday, “these are the growth moments that happen on this show, which is, ‘Well, Lexi has changed and grown and been wonderful to me, and you need to give her another opportunity, just as you’re asking for another chance. “There are mature times that we must welcome.”
Interestingly, Ash, who is also from Canada, revealed to the publication that she had never met Simone before appearing on the show.
We had never met before, which Ash said was “extremely unusual,” but it seemed as if they were meant to be together because of what they were doing. Fortunately for Simone, their strong relationship led to the creation of her personalized pajamas, which she gushed to Us were “so comfy and lovely.”
Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m., Not Dead Yet airs on ABC.
