However, James Gunn had already turned in a new draft of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 scripts in 2020, which made the process easier. Filming for the movie began in November 2021 in the city of Atlanta, Georgia, alongside the shooting of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
Principal photography for the film began on November 8, 2021, at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. Filming for the movie ended on May 6, 2022, and a release date for 2023 was set as the final date considering all of the delays.
The first footage for the movie was shown at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. The official trailer for the film was revealed on December 1st, 2022, at the CCXP.
While the first two musical scores for the movie, the Awesome Mix Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, were done by Tyler Bates, the same would not be done for the third installment, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
