Popular Netflix original series Unbelievable has consisted of eight episodes told a powerful story when it debuted in September 2019. Taking on the controversial subject of sexual assault and the difference in gender experiences made it a show to watch for many in 2019. It was so well done that many fans are asking if there will be a second season focusing on a separate crime.
UNBELIEVABLE IS BASED ON A TRUE STORY
Unbelievable tells the true story of eighteen-year-old Marie of Lynnwood, Washington. The role of Marie is played by Kaitlyn Dever. Hours after she’s raped in her own house by an intruder, she files a police report. The detectives investigating the case doubt her story, however, as do her foster parents. When she’s gripped by fear and overwhelmed by her terrifying situation, Marie recants the report.
To add insult to injury, she’s even brought up on charges for filing a false report by the same detectives who pressured her into withdrawing her original report.
Miles away in Colorado, Detective Grace Rasmussen (Toni Collette) and Detective Karen Duvall (Merritt Wever) meet while investigating a similar set of cases that lead them to think they may be pursuing a serial rapist. Viewers watch as Duvall and Rasmussen pursue the serial rapist, and their journey is intertwined with how Marie copes with the aftermath of her rape.
RENEWAL STATUS AND RELEASE DATE OF SEASON 2
Unfortunately, Netflix has not renewed the series for a second season. If a second season does happen, we’ll know soon. As for a premiere date, there’s no way of knowing that now, but if season 1 debuted in Sept. 2019, we may get a second one around the same time next year.
Do you think Unbelievable will be renewed for another season? Is there a case you would like for the Netflix series to feature?
