Kehlani has released the official tracklist for her sophomore album, it was good until it wasn’t. The 15 track LP Will feature appearances from Tory lane, Jhene Aiko, lucky days, mango, and James Blake. The project ends with the track titles “lexii’s outro “. The song pays tribute to the late rapper, lexii Larijani. The two friends first collaborated on jealously from kehlani 2015 mixtape, you should be here. In January, Larijani passed away from an accidental overdose.
On April 24, kehlani revealed the cover art for the album on social media. In the visual, she is standing on an overturned chair and holding a running water hose. She is also looking over a brick wall into her neighbor’s yard.
The album cover is a depiction of the never-ending duality if good and bad. It’s a tale of perspective, the All me singer said in a press release. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, but clearly something has gotten my attention. Paired with the back cover, we come into the question of us the grass really greener on the other side? Good things are good until they aren’t. Then we’re they ever really good?
The album was originally supposed to be released sooner, but kehlani pushed it back due to COVID -19. To be transparent, she tweeted back in March, I had a released date. We are unable to complete any of our plans or move forward with the album at the moment due to the pandemic, she continued, Not thinking about music at the moment, focuses on how to just be a good citizen to society at this time, stay safe.
