Netflix officially confirmed that The Rain will be coming back for a final season on June 18, 2019. The official announcement confirmed that the show will be expected for release in 2020. The first series was released in May 2018 and the second May in May 2019, so It’s likely that season 3 will follow the same schedule. The renewal for season 3 was officially confirmed on the official Facebook account of the show via a status. Netflix’s last announcement officially confirmed that the show will release in 2020. However, given the current COVID-19 pandemic, the show’s release is likely to be delayed just like other titles.
This show is written by Jannik Tai Mosholt, Marie Osterbye, Lasse Kyed Rasmussen, Mette Heeno, and Poul Berg, and directed by Natasha Arthy and Kenneth Kainz. The Rain has Peter Brose and Jonas Allen serving as the executive producers. Under the production House of Miso Film, the show is produced by Christian Potalivo.
THE CAST SCHEDULED?
Season 3 is expected to see the return of major characters including siblings Rasmus and Simone. Other returning cast members are expected to include many of the young survivors from season 1. This includes Martin as Mikkel Folsgaard, Patrick Lukas, Lokken, Jean Sony Lindberg, and Sten Johannes Bah Kuhnke. However, one character who will not be for season 3 is Lea Jessica Dinnage who sacrificed herself to save Simone.
DO WE KNOW WHAT THE PLOT WILL BE?
The Rain is centered on the situation when a virus wipes out nearly all humans in Scandinavia, then two Danish siblings Simone and Rasmus hide in a bunker for the survival. After 6 years both begin the hunt for their father, a scientist who left them in the bunker but never come back. Now that Rasmus was imprisoned by Apollon, season 3 should be focusing on saving Rasmus and the reaction of Rasmus after knowing that her sister, Simone as tried to kill him. The next thing that needs to be resolved in the upcoming season is the fact that Sarah played by Clara Rosager, has also become a victim of the virus.
