The ultimate stay-at-home pizza party is happening soon as original April O’Neil actress Judith Hoag is hosting a virtual reunion on Zoom to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. It’s World Turtle Day, and to celebrate both this very on-topic holiday and the 30th anniversary of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, the cast and crew of the 1990 classic are having a virtual reunion panel.
Judith Hoag (the voice of April O’Neil) is set to host the event and announced it yesterday with a YouTube video. Of course, just a panel isn’t enough! The event will also be a pizza party, just as the TMNT would like it.
A recently launched Facebook page, called TMNT Movie 1990, is commemorating the flick’s thirtieth anniversary by sharing behind-the-scenes pictures, telling the story of how the independently published Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book attained “global stardom” in movie theaters, and reminding everyone of a time when we unironically used the word “cowabunga” in conversations with our friends.
There are worse things you could do on a Saturday night than order a large pizza and listen to a lot of stories about the making of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. (And, let’s be honest: we’ve all had worse nights lately). Nobody would blame you if you downloaded the first three TMNT movies, watched all of them during one pepperoni-fueled binge, and softly said “cowabunga” to yourself during every stunt-filled fight scene.
