The Umbrella Academy is a Superhero web television series based on the comic book series of the same name published by Dark Horse Comics. Created for Netflix by Steve Blackman and developed by Jeremy Slater, it revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an impending apocalypse.
The first season was released on Netflix on February 15, 2019. It received positive reviews from viewers, with many praising the cast and visuals. In April 2019, Netflix reported that 45 million households had watched season one during its first month of release. That same month, the series was renewed for a second season.
UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON 2 CAST: WHO’S COMING BACK
All of the Hargreeves kids will be back, which means returns for Vanya as Ellen Page, Luther as Tom Hopper, Allison as Emmy Raver-Lampman, Klaus as Robert Sheehan, Diego as David Castañeda, Number Five as Aidan Gallagher, and Ben as Ethan Hwang, who played an increasingly more central role towards the end of the first season.
The events of season one will continue to have a huge impact on Vanya, in particular, moving forward. Speaking to Den of Geek, Ellen Page discussed the future of her character in more detail. “For me, it’s going to be so interesting to explore Vanya. It’s like Vanya 2.0 – less repressed and what does that mean in the good ways and bad kinda thing,” she said.
RELEASE DATE: WHEN’S UMBRELLA ACADEMY COMING BACK?
Bearing in mind that Blackman previously said that it takes “around 18 months” to make each series, The cast began filming season two of Umbrella Academy in June (2019), Then we first expected it to land towards the end of 2020.
STORYLINE
The events of season 1 will resume having a huge impact on Vanya, in particular, moving forward and the Netflix show introduces the audience to the 7 members of the Academy, who were all born on the same day, at the same time, and each has special powers. The story of season 2 will likely follow the Umbrella Academy members as they attempt to save their sister Vanya from succumbing to the destructive nature of her powers and, in the process save the world. Beyond those 2 story points, much of what season 2 will entail depends on where in the timeline the team jumped to.
