The Super Bass rapper had the, ahem, privilege of her new wax figure being unveiled today at Madame Tussauds museum in Berlin, Germany, and fans are all kinds of confused. And we have to admit, we kinda see where they’re coming from. Nicki, or should we say her waxwork, is positioned on a table on all fours in front of a leafy backdrop.
She’s wearing a bra made up of gold chains and a pair of black underpants and gold sandals, similar to the memorable outfit worn in the music video for her 2015 single Anaconda. However, that seems to be all that’s similar as a closer look at the waxworks bears little resemblance to the real Nicki. The face shape, nose and eyes don’t look too much like Nicki’s and her skin complexion is several shades lighter on her face to her body.
Minaj has said she loves the figure in Instagram posts and has responded to some of the suggestive poses with emojis associated with crying from laughter. She has not, however, commented on a photo of a man mounting the figure from behind and pulling its hair – the image that seems to have attracted the biggest backlash.
In December, the same branch of Madame Tussauds (the attraction has multiple locations worldwide) confused everyone with a waxwork allegedly modeled on Kendall Jenner.
Fellow singer Azealia Banks criticized the choice in Twitter, writing: ‘As much as that woman has accomplished, they had to put her on all fours… Why not standing up with a mic in her hand?
‘All people are gonna do is go up to that statue and take pictures shoving their crotch in her face and putting their crotch on her butt.’
The singer believes it is a sign of how black people are treated by the media and used the phrase ‘white people yo’.
