The sixth and final season of the American TV drama series Empire. This show is premiered on 24, 2019, in the United States on FOX. The season was ordered on April 30, 2019. This show is produced by 20th Century FOX Television in association with Imagine Entertainment. Empire ended its sixth and final season prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving fans with burning questions unanswered, including who shot Lucious Lyon and blew up Cookie’s car.
The first few episodes foreshadowed the presumed deaths of the Lyon parents as an unknown assailant shot Lucious in the face and blew up Cookie’s car.
Due to COVID-19 government mandates, production on Empire had to shut down midway through the penultimate episode. Therefore, the cast never filmed the intended ending instead, the crew included moments from Episode 19 into Episode 18 to give it a more satisfying ending.
That’s the breaks my heart, In the original series finale all of that plays out, who shot Lucious and who blew up Cookie’s car, and that storyline’s conclusion was a victim of COVID-19. I promise you that if we don’t get to film that episode we’ll get them out there one way and another.
The maker of the popular American music drama announced that they had to cut season 6 of Empire short with an abrupt ending as filming was shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Co-creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong explained in a statement. I’m heartbroken we aren’t getting to shoot the finale we wanted at least not yet. Episode 18 was the last one filmed before the set was shut down due to the global Coronavirus lockdown.
