You might not get to experience the thrill of physically attending an IRL show while we’re all social distancing, but Lady Gaga has curated the next best thing: a live concert featuring music from herself, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Kacey Musgraves, and more, all with the goal of supporting the World Health Organization in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Gaga and the WHO is partnering with Global Citizen, a music festival that has been producing a series of stay at a home concert from the likes of Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, to put on One World: Together at home, a concert intended to show support for health care workers.
The show will feature Idris Elba, who was diagnosed with COVID-19, and his wife, Sabrina, along with Eilish, J Balvin, John Legend, Musgraves, Keith Urban, Kerry Washington, Lang Lang, Lizzo, Maluma, Paul McCartney, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Shah Rukh Khan, and Stevie Wonder. Health care workers, many of whose lives are being upended by the coronavirus, will also appear to relate their harrowing experience of fighting the diseases, and those watching will encourage them to take a stand in their honor.
Viewers around the world can take action by visiting globalcitizen.org together at home to call on the corporation, government, and philanthropist to fund critical global COVID-19 response efforts, including support for Frontline health care workers, Global Citizen suggested in a statement.
