Dead to Me is a black comedy web television series created by Liz Feldman which premiered on May 3, 2019, on Netflix. It is executive produced by Feldman, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Jessica Elbaum. Netflix is considered to be quite notorious for canceling some of its beloved shows without any reason, which is why the fans were unsure if the show will get renewed or not, but In June 2019, Netflix renewed the series for a second season. At the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, Applegate received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

On November 2, 2018, it was reported that Amy York Rubin would direct the first and second episodes of the series. On April 1, 2019, it was announced that the series was set to be released on May 3, 2019. On June 3, 2019, the series was renewed for a second season, which is set to be released in 2020.

It was announced in October 2019 that Natalie Morales, who recently appeared in the latest season of Santa Clarita Diet, had joined the cast for upcoming Dead To Me: Season 2. Michele Briana White too has joined the cast and will play the role of Teri in DeadTo Me: Season 2. The news was received in November 2019.

There is also news that new directors will join the team for Season 2. Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum will direct episodes 5 & 6. Her credits include Why Women Kill and Empire. Episode 9 is set to be directed by Silver Tree, who works on Netflix’s Atypical and is a producer on Shameless for Showtime.
