Taylor Swift has slammed Scooter Braun and her ex-label Big Machine Records, calling their decision to put out a new live album of Swift performances, “shameless greed.” T-Swift has been publicly feuding with Braun since 2019, when his company Ithaca Holdings purchased Big Machine Label Group, including the master recordings of Swift’s first six albums.
Those ill feelings flared up again today when Big Machine quietly rolled out a new Swift album, Live From Clear Channel Stripped 2008, available as of midnight Friday local time.
TAYLER SWIFT POSTED ABOUT SCOOTER BRAUN ON HER INSTAGRAM STORY
On April 23, Swift posted a message for fans on her Instagram story. In the statement, Swift said she did not approve of the album’s release, and she called Braun out along with his financial backers. Alex Soros and the Soros family and the Carlyle Group have seen the latest balance sheets and realized that paying $330 MILLION wasn’t exactly a wise choice and they need money.”
She added: “In my opinion … Just another case of shameless greed in the time of coronavirus. So tasteless, but very transparent.”
Swift’s criticism of Braun has a long history. After he bought Big Machine, Swift accused Braun of “incessant, manipulative” bullying over the years via orchestrated feuds with his clients Kanye West and Justin Bieber, which Braun denied. She later claimed he was preventing her from performing her own music at the US awards ceremony, which Braun also denied.
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME TAYLER SWIFT CALLED OUT SCOOTER BRAUN AND HER OLD LABEL
In June 2019, Swift published a lengthy Tumblr post expressing her disappointment that Braun bought Big Machine Label Group and her entire music catalog. In the post, Swift called out Borchetta for not giving her the chance to purchase her own music.
