Amazon Prime Video is bringing us The Last Narc, a four-episode documentary series that tells the true story of what happened to Camarena in all its brutal details.
The show is directed by Tiller Russell and the production of Amazon Studios and Industrial Media’s Intellectual Property Corporation. Intellectual Property Corporations’s Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman are executive producers.
In 2018, Michael Pena (Ant-Man and the Wasp) joined the cast of Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico to play DEA Agent Kiki Camarena, who went undercover in the 1980s to try to take down the Mexican cartel. Now One of Netflix’s rivals.
ABOUT THE SHOW:
The man at the center of this docuseries is special agent Hector Berellez, who was tasked with finding out what happened to Camarena after he was picked up by the cartel. The show also features interviews with Camerena’s widow and three Guadalajara Cartel insiders- former drug lord bodyguards who eventually flipped, became informers, and helped Berellez find out the horrifying truth behind Camarena’s torture and murder.
The Last Narc tells the story of a fallen hero, the men who killed him, and the one man who risked everything to find out what really happened and why Highly decorated special agent Hector Berlioz, who was assigned to lead the DEA’s investigation of Camarena’s murder, peels back the layers of myth and propaganda to reveal the bone-chilling truth about a conspiracy that stretches from the killing fields of Mexico to the halls of power in Washington D.C.
