The 1975 Matty Healy has been deactivated his Twitter account after criticism for apparently tweeting a song link along with a Black Lives Matter message. The 31-year-old is being dragged online after he appeared to be promoting his track Love it if We Made it. In a tweet about the death of George Floyd. Floyd a 46-year-old African American, died in Minnesota in the custody of the local police on Monday, May 25. A clip will be surfaced earlier this week showing a Minnesota officer Kneeling on Floyd’s neck. His death has been sparked international outrage, ongoing protest in the state, and calls for justice from numerous artists and public figures.
Healy is known for sharing his unfiltered thoughts from his own struggles with an addiction to the 2017 bombing in Manchester. After posting the tweet, he was been accused of promoting his own work in the guise of the Black Lives Matter Movement. Following the backlash and before ultimately closing the account, he tweeted an apology.
Per the Independent, Healy then tweeted, Sorry I did not link my songs in that tweet to make it all about me it’s just that the song is literally all about this disgusting will be all of the situations and speaks more been eloquent than I can on Twitter. His account has been now deactivated. While the twitter account is been gone, Healy’s Instagram account is still active and includes a post encouraging his followers to sign a petition seeking justice for the late Floyd.
