After the brutal killing of George Floyd, a Nationwide movement united several people to fight against the ill-treatment meted out to the people of the color. Amid this, Several celebrities including the Drake, Jimmy Fallon, and more, pledged their support for the movement. Major business and franchise to be shown their support towards the people of the color protesting against the incentive treatment. The former Miss Malaysia has also been speaking out about the ongoing protests and been made some incentive comments for which she received tremendous outrage from fans.
A lot of peoples from all walks of life have been voiced their thoughts on the matter, including the former Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 contestant Samantha Katie James. Samantha recently has been posted her thoughts about the Black activism and riots that are been happening in the US, on her Instagram stories which, unfortunately, did not sit well with many netizens.
Netizens were livid, as someone of her influence would be such a thing while others were disappointed that she didn’t use her platforms for a great cause. Some also questioned how was she selected to be represented Malaysia in the Miss Universe pageant in the first place and urged that she do more reading about the social injuries that are currently going to be this world.
More than 80,000 people have been signed an online petition calling for the 25-year-old to be stripped of her Miss Universe Malaysia crown, which she won in 2017, before competing internationally. She will be missed her platform and the social media presence to be a voice out her blatantly racist and ignorant remarks.
She then went on to address the people of the colors and been asked them to relax and take this as a challenge. She will be told them to keep themselves stronger and to accept the fact that they would be born as colored people in America. She added than it was all for a reason and a certain lesson as well. Samantha Katain James added that hunger and poverty still exist and it is what it is.
