Netflix has continued its support of the Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli, Is releasing seven more cracking titles on the service from today. This brings the total of movies available from the animation studio up to 21 which is all of the studio’s feature-length titles. The animation studio is based in Tokyo and has been creating fantastic animation since being founded in 1985. The seven new additions now available to stream on Netflix are ‘howl’s Moving castle’, ‘ Pomo Poko’, ‘Whispers of the hear’ ‘Ponyo’, ‘From up on the poppy hill’, ‘ The wind Rises’, and ‘When Marine Was There’. The latter is the studio’s most recent creation from 2014.
This final line-up of studio Ghibli titles will join the 14 other releases that have already been added to Netflix this year which include ‘ My Neighbor Totoro’, ‘ Castle in the sky’, ‘The Tale of the Princess Kaguya’, and ‘Spirited Away’.
Studio Ghibli’s producer Toshio Suzuki said. In this day and age, there are various great ways a film can reach audiences. We have listened to our fans and have made the definitive decision to stream our film catalog. We hope people around the world will discover the world of studio Ghibli through this experience.
In January, Netflix announced its partnership with the bunch international to distribute popular films, in order ” to grow its best-in-class library of animated films. Studio Ghibli also said that they were working on two new films in 2020, one directed by the seminal studio co-founder Hayao Miyazaki. Release dates on these are yet to be confirmed. Earlier this year, the animation studio announced that two more film soundtracks will be released on Vinyl this year, From kiki’s Delivery Service and Porco Rosso.
