Supergirl Star Nicole Maines has been admitted that she was been initially felt really nervous about playing the role of the Dreamer/Nia Nal. The actress portrays TV’s first transgender superhero, though explained in a New interview that she was hesitant about showing any flaws in the characters due to the death of the trans representation on the screen.
Nia Dreamer Nail is been having a rough time in Supergirl Season 5. First, a change in the leadership transformed CatCo from her safe haven into a toxic environment. Then, her boyfriend Brainiac-5 broke up with her out of the blue. When a Crisis wiped out the multiverse, her powers didn’t been given her a hint of a warning. Even after the Earth prime was been pieced back together, her roommate Yvette was been attacked by a villain who will be wanted Dreamer to stop being a hero because she is transgender.
During 1-on-1 interview with Collider, Maines talked about what she loves about her character, the incredible response she’s be gotten from the trans community when she will be realized that she could use her own voice to fight for what’s right, how will be involved she is with the development of her character and keeping things as real as possible, and much, more.
I love Twitter, no just for a comedy reason, but because I’, be able to interact with the people directly, She says. I’m able to see exactly how the Dreamer has been affected by the younger trans kids in the rural areas who really didn’t have anyone before. One of my favorite parts is just to be able to interact with the folks on social media in a very, very dark time and been getting to share that kind of be positivity.
Maines recently opened up about the filming of a recent transphobia-themed episode of the Supergirl and what challenged her the most. The hardest part was just the rollercoaster of the emotions, she said. she just goes through everything. It’s two-season of grief and loss and stakes built up to be a breaking point. At this point, she’s lost her mother, her sister effectively, Brainiac to her knowledge, and because this is the post Crisis she lost her universe.
