From the makers, Tanya Saracho, the 3rd and final season of Vida see sisters Emma Mishel Prada and Lyn Melissa Barrera proud of their success, as their bar and their love lives seem to be o track and going well. But leave it to the drama that runs through their family to cause disruption and lead them to find a long-buried family secret that could either ruin everything and bring them closer together than ever. Season 3 opens a surprisingly peaceful note. The sister has long since decided to leave their old lives behind, keep the building, and save the bar.
For many other TV dramas, these story points would serve solely as obstacles scattered in the character’s way to keep the show going for another season. If the first few episodes of the series lack the lived in the subtlety of what follows, It’s because creator Tanya Saracho a theater artist who has written for HBO’s Looking and ABC’s How to get away with Murder was so purposeful in fleshing out her characters and the world of Boyle Heights.
Vida Season 3 Episode 6 will be the finale of what has been brilliant show portraying the lives of the Latinx population in all the shades. The final episode will answer some important questions that Emma as Mishel Prada and Lyn as Melissa Barrera have both had in their lives, questions that had plagued them all the while, and made up the people that they are in the present.
From the looks of the closing scene when Emma had lashed out a Lyn and Victor, It is going to be hard for Lyn to convince her sister that she hadn’t intended on Victor coming face to face with Emma. Now that Lyn has done damage to her second promise, there is no going back from it. She had been inconsiderate of Emma’s request in the face of her own drama taking center stage. A time when Emma had needed Lyn’s support the mos, Lyn refused to show up and this combined with her taking Victor’s lift to arrive at Vida has definitely crossed a line that Emma cannot forgive.
