More than three decades after the release of the blockbuster smash Top Gun, moviegoers a be look forward to a brand new sequel Top Gun: Maverick. And while the stars himself Tom Cruise Confirmed the news, fans are receiving more and more teases of the project. John Hamm, Ed Harris, and Lewis Pullman are being set to join the cast that also includes Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelley, and Glen Powell.
Cruise did eventually confirms that a new Top Gun was being set to start filming last year, during a press tour for The Mummy, now with the first trailer at our Doorsteps here’s everything we know so far about the film.
Originally scheduled to hit theaters in July 2019, Top Gun: Maverick had its premiere pushed back almost a year by Paramount Pictures. The Studio eventually announced a June 26, 2020, release date for the film, only to push it up to June 24 in early March.
Paramount Pictures is bringing some new and familiar faces together to continue the saga of reckless fighter pilot Lieutenant Peter Maverick Mitchell in Top Gun; Maverick. Peter Craig, Justin Marks, and Erick Warren Singer are on screenplay duties and the production began filming in May, as evidenced by Tom Cruise’s photo of Maverick gazing longingly at his airborne Chariot.
The cast members that EW can confirm include Jon Hmm, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Lewis Pullman, Glen Powell, Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez, and Monica Barbaro. Thomasin McKenzie, the breakout star of Leave No Trace, had also been attached to the production at one point but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
