The Outsider is an American horror crime drama miniseries. This show is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. The Outsider is about the case of Terry Maitland as Jason Bateman a man who is accused of murdering a local boy named Frankie Peterson. The Outsider starts by following a seemingly straightforward investigation into the gruesome murder of a young boy. But when an insidious supernatural force edges its way into the case. It leads a seasoned cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they believe in.
In the finale, The Outsider’s show burn appears to have been worth it. HBO’s Stephen King adaption has always been a good, well-crafted show. But few would argue that its 9 episodes leading up to this finale have been chock full of adrenaline-pounding scenes.
Alec Pelley as Jeremy Bobh was the first to go down last week. This week Claude’s brother Seale Bolton is the first to follow him to the grave. The deaths would continue apace If it weren’t for the bravery of Holly Gibney. Holly walks out into the open, all but daring Jack to kill her.
Episode 10 titled Must/Can’t in a dual reference to both the necessity of trapping El Cuco in the cave and the danger of confronting a supernatural being to one in our group of heroes fully understands, seemingly ends with everything resolved. Holly was a vision of Jack Hoskins, the shitbag cop-turned monster-puppet in her bathroom mirror, and immediately checks the back, of her neck for any signs of the boils that indicate El Cuco’s influence. We are think season 2 is entirely dependent on how much people enjoyed the initial offering, and I am fully excited about the possibility of watching the Ben Mendelsohn and Cynthia Erivo hunt Frankensteins and werewolves for years to come.
