Mad Max: Fury Road writer and director George Miller, wants to create a brand new posts apocalyptic action film based on the Mad Max films but entirely focused on one of the protagonists, Imperator Furiosa. As in one recent reports claimed that the director and the producers of the prequel film are looking for the actress to portray the role as Charlize Theron would not be returning. George Miller confirmed that the upcoming Mad Max film would not be the focus on the primary protagonist, Max Rockantansky, but will tell the story of Furiosa.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Comer is now being eyed up to play the younger incarnation of the Imperator. Miller Previously revealed he had considered bringing back Theron via de-aging technology, through in the end decided against it. For the longest time, I thought we could just use CG de-aging on Charlize, but I don’t think we’re nearly there yet, he said. Despite the valiant attempts on The Irishman, I think they’re still an uncanny valley.
Meanwhile, Miller previously revealed that there were two new Mad Max movies in the pipelines, which would be a sequel though they depended on legal issues with Warner Bros. It was been also reported in February that a fifth Max Max movie was set to start shooting later this year, though it remains unclear whether this has been affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The British actress broke through the mainstream by playing the assassin Oksana Astankoa/villanelle in the critically acclaimed espionage TV series Killing Eve. For the role, Comer has been since winning a primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series last year, while getting nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress Television Series earlier this year.
