American Soul is an American drama TV series. This show is created by Jonathan Prince and Devon Greggory that released on February 5, 2019. Season 1 of American Soul averaged a 0.17 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 584,000 audiences. The show debuted with Okay ratings, but because BET has few scripted projects these days. The show is based on the real-life of American Don Cornelius whose dream was to run his own show on the television.
The show star cast Sinqua, Wall Kelly Price, Jason Dirden, Jelani Winston, and many more. The scripted drama combines fictional and real-life characters and moments to tell the story of a young, ambitious, and troubled entrepreneur who created Soul Train one of the most predominant TV shows for African-American culture.
In season 1 takes us on his journey with a lot of ups and downs both in his professional as well as personal life. The show also stars some real-life celebrities of those times to get the feel of good old days and the audience is able to connect with the show.
American Soul makes very apparent is the broad separation between white American and Black American culture. When a soul like Soul Train is released, there was hardly a single white star of the times who featured on it.
