Extraction debuted on April 24, on Netflix, and stars Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a mercenary who specializes in suicidal rescue missions. The story revolves around Rake is charged with rescuing Ovi Mahajan (Rudhraksh Jaiswal), the kidnapped son of an imprisoned Indian drug lord who was taken hostage by a rival crime boss.
SEQUEL’S RENEWAL STATUS:
Joe Russo confirmed on April 4 that he is returning to write Extraction 2, he said:
“The deal is closed for me to write Extraction 2, and we are in the formative stages of what the story can be, ”We’re not committing yet to whether that story goes forward, or backward in time. We left a big loose ending that leaves question marks for the audience.”
IS CHRIS HEMSWORTH RTURN IN EXTRACTION 2?
Russo Bos. said that the super amazing Hemsworth and Hargrave would be back for Extraction sequel or prequel. Until the upcoming script is ready, this deal won’t be officially confirmed.
They also stated that ”we’re not committing yet to whether that story goes forward or backward in time. We left big loose hiding that leaves question marks for the audiences”.
EXTRACTION 2 RELEASE DATE: WHEN CAN WE EXPECT A SEQUEL ON NETFLIX?
There’s no information yet on when the sequel will start production as it’s still in the very early phase of development.
So it’s very hard to admeasure when Extraction 2 will be released on Netflix – especially with the current global situation – but Netflix could try to stick to a similar release date that worked well for the first movie.
Extraction was released on April 24, 2020, on Netflix, so if it follows a similar pattern, then April 2022 is likely the earliest we can expect a sequel. This is pure speculation at the moment though and we’ll only know more when production is confirmed.
