Scarlett Johansson returns as Natasha Romanoff in the first trailer for Marvel’s Black Widow released Tuesday, which shows off a spy thriller set prior to the events of Avengers Endgame. Natasha was one of the Avengers who didn’t make it out of Avengers: Endgame alive, so Black Widow takes place a few years earlier, after Captain America: Civil War but before Avengers: Infinity War.
Part of the Original film Avengers, Scarlett Johannsson as Black Widow has one of the most important roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, not many know that Scarlett was not the first choice to play Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow. In an Interview with Parade magazine, she has accepted that she was not the first choice to play three iconic characters.
As well as Paul Bettany’s Vision, we lost Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark/ Iron Man and Romanoff herself, though Vision will be black in the Disney Plus Show WandaVision, while the latter pair return in Black Widow.
Everything is about the early Trailer screams care and attention to the minutiae of Black Widow’s World away from the Avengers, which, makes it hard to imagine Romanoff simply being put back in her Civil War-era box when the movie is done.
The standalone MCU movie, which was recently pushed back amid the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, will see her reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff. Black Widow was originally set to be released on May 1 but has now been delayed to an unspecified later date you can read about how this may affect the MCU here.
