Bloodborne is a great game, and fans are still returning to try and unravel the inner working of the 2016 action RPG. One modder, Lance McDonald, says he has patched Bloodborne to make the game run on 60 fps on PlayStation 4. The games run at 30 fps which of course is not the issue at all but the constant frame rates during boss fights can be pretty annoying and game-breaking especially for a title where timing is crucial.
However, thanks to Lance McDonald, a well known PS4 modder and Bloodborne enthusiast, these issues may have been solved. In a series of tweets, McDonald has shared Bloodborne game-play, running in glorious 60 FPS.
McDonald explains that in order to achieve such a buttery smooth experience, he reduced the resolution from 1080 to 720p while running PS4 pro’s Boost mode enabled. “I went one step further and patched Bloodborne at run at 720p instead of 1080. It seems to hold 60fps really nice this way. Once again, this is all captured on a PS4 pro running with Boost mode enabled,” McDonald wrote n Twitter.
All in all, it is an excellent piece of work from the modder but sadly, it is unrealistic to expect that this mode becomes ever gets the official support. There’s a reason why from software capped the game to 30 Fps after all.
It’s fascinating to watch this smoother version of Bloodborne, and it’s a reminder as to the game’s staying power with fans. While fans are still waiting for the upcoming Elden Ring. They are still finding ways to innovate and improve upon FromSoftware’s existing catalog.
